PANNELLI SOLARI Italtergi

Italtergi has always paid particular attention to compliance with quality and environmental procedures for its products and services. The Codogno-based company is certified ISO 9001, IATF16949, and ISO 14001 to provide its customers with high-quality solutions with low environmental impact.

“Our products and solutions are designed and manufactured with full respect for environmental protection. Italtergi’s priorities include preventing pollution as well as reducing consumption of energy and other critical resources,” said Italtergi Quality Manager Marco Martinenghi.

Those working at Italtergi aim daily to minimize environmental impact. The company’s commitment to environmental issues includes responsible waste sorting (providing dedicated containers in specific areas), the use of natural light instead of artificial lighting, and moderate and controlled use of cooling and heating systems.

“We apply corporate strategies aimed at minimizing environmental impacts,” explained Marco Martinenghi, “reducing water waste through the use of automatic/button systems for water discharges. Drinking water dispensers are available to all employees, providing a service for our team and eliminating the need for bottled water, thus avoiding the associated plastic disposal. With these behaviors, we aim to minimize waste throughout the product lifecycle, using materials that reduce risks to health and the environment.”

In 2012, Italtergi installed a 100 kW photovoltaic system to reduce electricity consumption from the grid.  Since 2022, it has been purchasing 100% renewable energy. With the photovoltaic system, the company produced 88,078 kWh of electricity in 2023, of which 24,645 kWh were fed into the grid. If this energy had been drawn from the grid, it would have resulted in an average emission of 0.334 kg CO2eq/kWh. Italtergi thus avoided emitting 21.18 tons of CO2eq* (tons of carbon dioxide equivalent).

Since 2011, Italtergi has been ISO 14001 certified (Environmental Management System) and annually renews its subscription to the EcoVadis platform, a portal that monitors and evaluates companies’ sustainability performance.

“From the latest evaluation, we received a silver medal and ranked in the 80th percentile!” announced Marco Martinenghi. “The percentile ranking shows our score relative to other companies. Essentially, Italtergi scores equal to or better than 80% of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis.”

Italtergi also adopts a code of conduct that defines the behavioral standards expected from its staff, promoting a positive and ethical workplace while respecting the environment.

In line with its goal to safeguard and reduce its environmental impact, Italtergi shares data from the Circularity report, a Milan-based environmental consulting firm focusing on CO2 emissions. The report shows that total emissions in 2023 (using the “Market Based” approach) were 57.17 tons CO2eq; Scope 2 emissions are zero CO2eq, thanks to the 100% renewable energy procurement.

The report confirms a decreasing trend in CO2 emissions. Italtergi’s goal is to reduce emissions by 42% by 2030 through an increasingly green approach across all areas.

“Of course, our commitment to our customers is to always ensure the highest quality products,” concluded Martinenghi, “adopting increasingly eco-sustainable designs and solutions with lower environmental impact, and selecting components that are more robust and have a longer lifespan.”
